HOW TO BE IN THE MOMENT – 101 Little Tips

TIP #59
Unravel a smell.

Smells, like sights and sounds, interweave in the splendid tapestry
of sensation that surrounds us.

Are you as curious about a smell as you are a sound? Catch the
tag end of one you don’t recognize; see if you can follow the
thread to its origin.

Ideally, anything that catches the attention of our senses implores us to explore a new discovery about life, and therefore, ourselves.

There is smoke in the air here in california. In some ways its a perfuming the air with incense.

Couldn't agree more, Bern'e! More than just conjuring up great memories, I think the smell of wood smoke taps into something deep and timeless -- perhaps the truth of our oneness with all of Nature.

Oh yes.... conjuring up is the key word.... and not necessarily memories... but its all symantics... the senses are like conduits to a target... but we are not really searching for the physical object... we are desiring to connect to the magic and to the miracle beneath that which we are seeing and smelling and touching.... we crave that spark... those vibes... the sensational... images boraging the mind... this then is true connection... the smells lead us not to objects... but to life its self. And it can be done from miles or galaxies away. Sniff the air and your mind travels.
